Antioxidant 168 (CAS: 31570-04-4) is a phosphite-based auxiliary antioxidant. Its core function is to prevent material aging, discoloration, and performance degradation by decomposing hydroperoxides generated in polymer materials during processing and use.

Usage	Plastics and Polymers: It is one of the main stabilizers for polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP). It is also widely used in polystyrene (PS), polyester (PET), polyamide (PA, nylon), polycarbonate (PC), ABS resin, etc.
	Other Materials: It also has important applications in rubber, elastomers, adhesives, and coatings (oil-based systems), to prevent yellowing, embrittlement, and degradation of material properties.

Core Function: Synergistic Protection

Decomposition : Antioxidant 168 does not directly scavenge free radicals, but efficiently decomposes produced during polymer oxidation, interrupting the chain reaction that leads to material aging. This is its primary chemical function-10.

Clear "Auxiliary" Role: It must be used in combination with hindered phenolic primary antioxidants (such as 1010, 1076)-1-2. The primary antioxidant is responsible for scavenging free radicals, while 168 decomposes peroxides.  The synergy between the two can increase overall antioxidant efficiency several times-2.

Long-lasting Protection: Effectively prevents thermal degradation of polyolefins during high-temperature processing (such as injection molding and extrusion), and provides additional long-term protection during the material's service life-1.
